Good evening from Junior. Have you been wondering where I was.
I was in the land of very slow orno service. Guess where.
We had a very good breakfast on Tuesday and set off on new adventures. Headed west again. We traveled along tne bottom of Minnesota and then South. We passed the highest point in Iowa. 1670 feet. I couldn't tell the difference. It all looks pretty flat to me. Next was the exciting little town of LaMar. I think it is the ice cream capitol of the world. It is the home of Blue Bunny Ice Cream. It is in a very old building. I think from 1914. Inside is a beautiful staircase and lots of wood work. There is a museum upstairs about the company. The whole town is about ice cream. There are 55 ice cream cones scattered around town. After my big ice cream, I went around visiting some of the cones. Many different artist painted them.
After walking off the ice cream, we headed to Trinity Heights, in Sioux City. It is a very large garden. Many many acres full of beautiful statues and quiet spots where you can sit and pray or meditate. I tried to do both. There is a full sized carving of the Last Supper. Each figure was started with a chain saw and then the sculptor finished the carvings. We saw a 30 foot steel statue of the Virgin Mary. At the other end of the Garden was a steel Statue of Jesus. He was 33 feet tall, one foot for each year of his life. They were beautifully done.
We stayed again at the world famous J and J. As usual they were wonderful hosts. They are having a graduation party next weekend for their grandson. We were invited to stay but I didn't want to be monkeying around when they were busy. Jackie was adding flowers to her beautiful gardens and John let Don help him with some brick work. They had some male bonding time. Donna just sat around with me watching everyone work and admiring all the birds. We spent another night with them so we could watch the finale of Survivor and the Warriors. When we left them we stopped at Stanton to look at another strange water tower and took picyures for the school. The cup holds 150,000 gallons or 2,400.000 cups. Next we stopped in Creston to see the little Freedom Park and the tiniest Gas Station I ever saw. It was built in 1931. Completely restored and now the info center. Then the last thing we did was go to Eldon to see the House that inspired Grant Woods American Gothic painting. He used his sister and dentist as models. All caught up now and this little monkey is ready to rest up for our ext adventure. I wonder where that will be.
