Hello everyone from Junior the sockmonkey. I am on the road again with my friend Cmor the RV and I am taking Don and Donna with me. We had a little trouble because they bought a new ipad and the old photo connector did not fit. The first few days were traveling thru country with no apple products available. So today I decided to detour just a bit to Reno to shop. So here I am trying to remember how to blog. Since Don and Donna never know where they are going, I am taking over the maps and planning our trip. Those of you that read my last blog, know I ran into snow and ice and did not have adequate clothing. This time, thanks to Debbie, I have a warm hat, a parka, and fur lined boots. Along with my Giant's hat, I am all set.
Our first night night was spent in Dutch Flat/Gold Run California. Great trees all around us and NO mosquitos. Left camp Saturday morning and drove to Colfax. First thing we saw was a speeder car at the old depot. Of course I had to play on it. Then as we were heading up 49, we wanted ourr first day to start with breakfast out. Decided to exit in Nevada City. Donna was saying stay on the hwy until the next second exit. Of course that meant Don took the first exit! That turned out to be a good thing. We found the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum. The secretary of the museum was there and asked if we would like a personal tour. I immediately said yes. What fun. We saw all the restored cars and engines, inside and out. He let me switch the tracks, and climb inside the front of a steam engine. He told me if it had been running, I would have been a cooked monkey. He even took us into the shop, and we met some of the volunteers. I found another speeder car that needs a little work. Took lots of pictures in case anyone is interested. I also learned the difference between narrow gauge and regular. After leaving we continued on thru Sierra City and on to Graeagle. Found another great campground. We had a couple from Hungary over for a visit. We sat outside bcause it was so hot. Thunder and black clouds and big fat drops but it felt good.
Today we got up and Don and Donna went into Portola to Church. I waited with Cmor. After mass, we went back to Graeagle to have breakfast in the parking lot of the Graeagle Golf Course. Don played, I drove for awhile and Donna just sat there. Beauiful course. Don played great for part of it, and then because it is the game of golf, I learned some new words. But it was still fun. We decided to head to Reno and Best Buy. And so the story of my next adventures begins. Now if I can only figure out how to send pictures. Hugs, and good night to all from Junior.
